If his first release could have gone unnoticed, his second one published on Satamile is still in every mind. Exactly one year after the "T-Wrex EP", Opbrouck Stijn integrates today into excellent Switzerland electro label Kône Records. Following to Davecore, Trèstristestigres, Scape One and Luke Eargoggle, Belgian artist delivers here five remarkable tracks, at once dancefloor and really diverse in the styles. As a prologue, hit "Chip Nation" introduces on A side a rough and frantic syncopated rhythm enhanced by stirring vocoded lyrics. It sounds like a Jackal & Hyde tune. "Cyberlife Research" goes on in a harsher tone made of hard drums and clinic distortions à la Manasyt. Superb. Bubbling "Elektroland" on the flip offers a solid futuristic melody, minimal sounds in the background while "The Nanowalker" signs a successful incursion into electro punk register. At last, "Twin Paradox" and its nostalgic colour let Bytecon's early influences (New Beat and Dopplereffekt) shoot up. A devastating high quality production! www.konerec.net Nexus 6, 27/09/2004
