After three EPs for Satamile label whose one has been remixed by none other than Exzakt and Si Begg, here comes Decal again, this time in long format. In height masterly tracks, Alan O'Boyle, separated from his partner Dennis McNulty in 2003, offers a superb follow up to the "Brighest Star LP" published on Radioactive Man's label Rotters Golf Club. In turn bleepy, dramatic, powerful, minimal, ominous or cold, "Release Through Velocity" stands out as an essential piece on Irish's musical career. Obviously liberated from a dark electro developed previously on Sabrettes, Ultramack or D1 Recordings, Dublin based artist signs a stirring opus where tensed melodies, discrete strings, frenzied bass lines and melancholy combine harmoniously. A deep, eclectic and soulful focused album whose exceptional "64 Guns", "Final Statement" and "Happy Home" sum up exactly the whole atmosphere. Grade A to "Of The Present", a Warp Style tune of a rare beauty. No doubt Decal's most accessible work on Andrew A. Price's New York based structure. Essential! www.satamile.com Nexus 6, 23/09/2004
