The Artificial Arm... - Armtronic Action EP – Orson 01
Promising beginning for Artificial Arm on one half of Transparent Sound Orson Bramley's new label. Far from following current electro wave, young UK artist, ridded of a dark and aggressive sound sings an ultra funky first 12''. Besides the musical performing, let's notice here author's physical feat: as his scene name mentions, he owns a real... read more Nexus 6, 05/10/2004

Leandro Gàmez Remixes - Protecciòn de Testigos - Bullitt 03R
"Sin salida" remixed by Soulshift aka Southsoniks isn't music you can hear every day. It's an exceptional mix of Italo disco, electro & tech house, making it a masterpiece of its own. Moody, modulating melodies, great synth bassline, takes you on a journey to a distant world. Amazing! Well, I must say that I just love Oxia's rolling basslines in "No es otra cosa" remix. Everything else is also great, from percussive groove to synth chords, it's all wired perfectly together. Nice job from Oxia. Classic stuff. www.zebra3recording.com Lesha, 04/10/2004

Double Horizontal – Crevist Park After Dark EP – Holding Company Inc 02
Electro made in Los Angeles is mainly characterized by its complexity. Best example has been given to us last year by Volsoc in such labels like World Electric, NIT or Belief. Promoted by Holding Records, a West Coast of USA based structure, Double Horizontal duo follows the steps of Justin Maxwell & Jean Paul Bondy. Like their predecessors, Dewey... read more Nexus 6, 01/10/2004

Umberto Carmignani - Functional Elements - GFR1214
Another quality release from a Swedish label, this time with an Italian signature sound. Four "Functional Elements" are very dancefloor oriented, funky techno tracks. Carmignani's style isn't different from the other Italian guys, I guess "don't change it if it's working" perfectly applies here. Never the less, it's very, very useful as a DJ tool. Recommended. www.backbone-digital.com Lesha, 30/09/2004

V/A – Mullet 04 – Bernards Haircut Recordings 04
With "I Love Horses", Michael Forshaw confirms that he's the most crazy and genius current electro / techno producer! Let's figure a sample of a girl, surprised to realise that she loves horses, affixed to a frantic breakbeat and uncontrolled rhythm. Ridiculous, absurd, kitsch but so much irresistible! Written by Chan'n'Mike mastermind associated with Michael Singleton on the flip comes another furious electro cut that introduces a harsh distorted sounds over powerful bass line. Collector!! Bytecon – Botworx EP – Kône 06
If his first release could have gone unnoticed, his second one published on Satamile is still in every mind. Exactly one year after the "T-Wrex EP", Opbrouck Stijn integrates today into excellent Switzerland electro label Kône Records. Following to Davecore, Trèstristestigres, Scape One and Luke Eargoggle, Belgian artist delivers here five... read more Nexus 6, 27/09/2004

Double Horizontal – Honkahonk For Budankadonk – Holding Company Inc 01
Double Horizontal very first release! Published in 2003, this 7" introduces two tracks with absurd titles ("Honkahonk For Budankadonk" and "One More thing, Gotta Have Clean Ass") in which humour and quality prevail. If pressing is a little bit light, musical direction tends toward a brilliant ghettotech minimal electro. For collectors of rarities. www.holdingcompanyinc.com www.doublehorizontal.com Nexus 6, 24/09/2004

Sink + Léonard de Léonard – EP3 – Bee Records 03
As seen before on Bee: there is one side per artist. The Parisian Léonard de Léonard shows his very particular universe with four strange electro breaks kitsch tunes. Regarding the other French producer Sink, his three tracks are darker and combine in a Warpian style broken beats, huge basses & lovely melodies.
