One L - Bot Box - RES FREq

Here comes One L's second album on the NY based structure RES FREq! Direct follow up to the "Das Not-Stop Programm" CD published in May 2003, "Bot Box" uses the same components as the previous release but shows here a much more daring Mitch Davis. If American artist, against the mainstream dark productions, confirms his propensity for computer sounds and vintage synthesizers, his music, very personal, is not locked up in any style. Covering a large palette of genres ranging from 80's electro funk to the best of the electro clash in a Disko B (cf: Dakar & Gringer) or Gigolo way, this UFO escaped of a remote planet signs an eclectic, original and innovative opus. In a perfect harmony, mechanical titles a la Rob Euroh ("Physical ", "Lektrail", "x-ru", "Machine In Your Station") are running alongside alienating experiments ("Physical", "Boot", "Blink", "That's How I Rockit"), punk tunes ("Electric Superstar", "Superstar Electrique"), lounge sweetness ("Science") and rock'n'roll slaughters ("Do You Love Me"). Absolute climax of this masterpiece, the fresh "Karate (All Over Your Body)" delivers a sumptuous production, raised by a funny refrain with double voice and a small involving melody. A total success, sensitive, analogical and dancefloor at the same time.
