Sheldon Thompson aka Pan/Tone, coming back this time under the alias Gringo Grinder, is releasing this month a 12 tracks album on the Stuttgart label, Onitor. More pop oriented than his two previous nice EP's on Sub Static, the Canadian make some vocal tracks like the really good "Sweet kiss" (feat. Ada / Areal records) or the more harmonious "Fork n'knife" (feat. Amy Fletcher). The others tracks are very cool, even if each one is too much similar to the other: a well done mixture of minimal drum-machine and melodic basslines. The strong piece of this album is for me "Dirty deeds", an excellent tracks mixing acoustic guitar and pumping rhythm part, ideally cut for a driving warm-up. www.onitor.de Nhar, 15/06/2004
