This label based in Cologne was founded in 2001. After a break of more than two years, Karmarouge restarted its activities this year. The sixth release is done by Maik Loewen, a German producer who previously appeared on Tonsport and Trapez. A-side track - "Ego" – is in the vein of some productions by Johannes Heil: German techno with a grating bass, hypnotising strings and distorted sounds like air-raid sirens. On B-side, "Mezcalero" is quieter, especially due to a soft rhythm, but also with a dark hypnotising side produced by its strings. The little melody adds some melancholy to the track with success. Finally, the superb "Maguey" ends this EP with perfection. Direction mental / deep techno with many delicacy, sweetness, small details and an atmosphere both wide and captivating. Simply excellent!
