Bass Kittens – MFS_Root – Kracktronik 05

Danger, hot pieces inside! Coming directly from Birmingham in England, the fifth release of Kracktronik, the label managed by Sir Real and Dj Sherwen, should be one of end of year electro breaks sensations. Conceived by Bass Kittens that is to say Jon Drukman, an American artist also heard on Astralwerks, World Electric or Pretension, "MFS_Root" offers on A side a frightening dancefloor tune combining bassline à la Cursor Minor, complex drums and destroying effects. This title is worth the purchase of the 12'' by itself. As a good surprise never comes alone, the piece is fully equipped by two incredible remixes, the first in a kind of neurotic genre from the like of Jean Paul Bondy alias Volum, half of Vosloc (World Electric, Belief, NIT), the second more deep and minimal thanks to excellent 214 (Mikrolux, AI). Let us greet here impressive work of rebuilding from both artists, each one bringing his personal and mental vision of the original title. At last, cherry on the cake, the groovy "Useful Cars" on the reverse closes on a dark and punchy note one 12'' to classify among 2004's essential productions. Astonishing!
