Electro made in Los Angeles is mainly characterized by its complexity. Best example has been given to us last year by Volsoc in such labels like World Electric, NIT or Belief. Promoted by Holding Records, a West Coast of USA based structure, Double Horizontal duo follows the steps of Justin Maxwell & Jean Paul Bondy. Like their predecessors, Dewey Ambrosino and Bernard Elsmere develop an exceptional music made of sound juxtapositions, surprising samples and subversive atmospheres. With "Crevist Park After Dark EP", their second output on Thomas Rugani's label, both men introduce four unreleased tunes where Ghetto tech influences and syncopated rhythms combine in a creative bubbling. A side starts with an abstract piece full of humoristic lyrics and dark distortions. Original and captivating. "Le Juan Love Child" goes on with a solid dancefloor cut enhanced by a carrying child rap. Then come on the flip two mental tracks a la Aphex Twin or Phoenecia, one in a downtempo register ("Deep Steez Dweller"), the other in a breakbeat version ("Deep Steez Dweller - Dj Adjust, Multiple Shots On Goal Remix"). Impressive. At last and to complete this relentless 12'', UK artist Scape One delivers in a masterly way his rework of "Honkahonk For Budonkadonk", previously published on Holding 01. A radical and enthusiastic production!
