Dj Controlled Weirdness – Killer Virus EP – Fdb Recordings 02_4

After Ian Miley aka Blackmass Plastics, what could be more natural than to welcome the other member of the Leyton Breakers in the person of Neil Keating? Keeping on its exploration of grime electro sound, Vstee's Parisian label, twinned with the South of London, invites Dj Controlled Weirdness (Audio Illusion/Unearthly) for one four titles of pure madness. On A side, the dark "Suburban Threatens" introduces a rather fast syncopated rhythmic, enhanced by strident 4/4 sonorities and intimidating vocoder. More aggressive, disastrous "Hardware Bass Attack" sounds like the perfect combination between ultra powerful beats and post industrial tonalities. To date, one of Neil's best compositions after the breakbeat "Killer Bee's", an explosive cut with funky influences available on the flip. At last, atmospheric "Grime Time" will return towards a less dark music, based on solid groovy melodies and samples of police sirens. An urban and essential underground release!
